There are great similarities between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, and only a health professional will be able to tell you which type of diabetes you are suffering from. The main difference is that type 1 diabetes involves having very high glucose levels in the bloodstream due to a lack of insulin. In type 2 diabetes, the body becomes resistant to insulin. Type 1 diabetes is something people are born with, whereas type 2 is developed over time.

Some of the most common signs of diabetes include:

Very frequent urination, particularly during the night. This is mainly due to the kidneys being unable to cope with the high levels of glucose. This means that the kidneys try to draw water out of the blood vessels, which then goes to your bladder that will need frequent emptying.

Extreme levels of thirst, due to the same malfunction of the kidneys. As the kidneys draw water from the bloodstream, your body will tell you automatically that you require more fluid intake to make up for this loss of water.

Sudden unexplained weight loss – this is mainly common in type 1 diabetes – mainly caused by the fact that the pancreas ceases to produce insulin. As the body requires energy, it will find it from other sources, such as your body fat and muscle tissue. Type 2 diabetes develops over time and is more common in people who are obese, which means that weight loss is much less noticeable.

Fatigue and weakness, caused by the cells not reacting to insulin anymore, or an insulin deficiency, which means glucose is not absorbed into the bloodstream. This means that the body has no energy reserves.

Unfortunately, diabetes is usually a lifelong condition that can only be managed with lifestyle changes, dietary changes and usually medication.

This post was contributed by Larry Brown from payday-loans.co.uk. Check them out for payday loans or cash advances.

We have many minerals in our body and they all do a job to keep the body working correctly. Calcium is one of those minerals and you already know it is in your teeth and bones. To keep your bones and teeth healthy, you must be sure to get enough calcium each day because you body does not produce it.

Anyone who is younger than fifty needs about one-thousand milligrams of calcium each day. Those who are over the age of fifty need a bit more, twelve hundred a day. You can get your daily needs by eating foods high in calcium or taking supplements twice a day instead of all at one time. Vitamin D is needed by you body to be able to absorb the calcium so be sure to get that too.

When you don’t get enough calcium, your body will take from your bones and this is how osteoporosis develops. Cheese, milk and yogurt are good sources of calcium and so is tofu, pink salmon and you will find that some orange juice, breads and dry breakfast cereals have had calcium added for your benefit. Anyone with liver or kidney disease or inflammatory bowel disease has a higher risk for low levels of calcium in their body.

We have all heard a lot about coffee over the years, both good and bad. There are those who cannot get going in the morning without their coffee and others can’t stand the smell of it. Many people drink coffee for the caffeine in contains but the amount of caffeine depends on the method of brewing, the coffee grind and the bean. Believe it or not, the light coffee will generally have more caffeine than dark coffees.

Coffee has been known to open the bronchial passages which can help those with asthma. Caffeine can be a natural laxative as it stimulates the muscles in the intestines. There is also studies that show coffee, with it strong antioxidants, can help fight cancer. On the flip side, coffee can make depression worse and those who drink a lot can have difficulty sleeping, have headaches and an upset stomach.
Quorn’s range of versatile ingredients, meals and snacks are not just varied and delicious – they’re a healthy choice too. Quorn offers a wide range of ready meals, grills, sausages, burgers and deli slices, as well as ingredients like mince, strips and pieces. Quorn is a high-quality meat-free protein that centres on delicious, healthy and homemade cooking. The products are quick to prepare and good for you and your family, as they’re a great source of protein and many are low in fat. Mycoprotein, the main ingredient in Quorn, is naturally low in fat, including saturated fat (which can contribute to poor heart health). It’s also relatively low in calories, so ideal for those living healthy lifestyles.

As the name suggests, mycoprotein is a high quality vegetarian protein source. It has all the essential amino acids you’d find in protein from meat like beef or chicken.

You can cook Quorn foods in your oven, grill or microwave, as you would do for meat and poultry, but often in much quicker time. Plus there’s no need to defrost Quorn ingredients – you can cook them straight from frozen.

This cooking tutorial is one of four that Quorn have launched; why not try one at home- Thai Curry, Chilli con Quorn Jacket potatoes, Sausage Casserole or Spaghetti Carbonara? All family favourites, all delicious!

Some new moms gain more weight than others, so for those who have extra pounds to loose here are a few helpful tips that are include fat burning foods. Fruits are first on the list and are all low in calories which means, to digest them, your body must use more effort: oranges, limes, apples, guava and grapefruit. If you can eat the less sweet ones with adding sweeteners, they will work best. Vegetables are next with broccoli, celery and artichokes. These three will keep you feeling full longer and are high in soluble fiber. Kale and cabbage are part of this list also. Protein rich foods are harder to digest than carbohydrates. Make sure your choices are lean and very low in fat like turkey, chicken and fish. These also contain tryptophan which can elevate your mood without additional calories. These thirteen fat burning foods will be of benefit to any program for weight loss although they are not enough by themselves. Increasing your water intake to at least eight glasses a day is necessary too. Add to that an aerobic exercise program on a regular basis and keep carbohydrate and fats simple and low in your diet.

In the earlier times, people used to feel that as long as they ate the quantity, it was enough. But now everybody is getting health conscious and one cannot afford to compromise on the special dietary needs each individual has. Eating healthy is what people today look at. A health food store is just like a typical grocery store across the street but it mainly sells health food, organic food, natural foods and many a times also nutritional supplements.

A health food store is a great help for people with special dietary needs such as certain allergic persons or diabetics, from total vegetarians to those surviving solely on raw foods. Health food store is a great way of fulfilling all food related needs and to make life simpler and easier. One might also be able to shop for certain herbal remedies in addition to the natural remedies that are already available in some health food stores depending upon the size and factors like the expected growth of the store.

With the increasing interests towards healthier lifestyles and proper diets, many health food stores are opening up. This has benefitted the consumer the most since the prices of health food is now coming down by the day. Health food stores are far better than the usual grocery stores as they cater to the needs of a huge section of those people whose needs are a little different than ham and cheese

For Healthy meals UK is the place where they are becoming an essential part of a regular diet. As more people are becoming aware of the fact that good health depends on the right foods, they’re choosing to prepare more healthy meals. And, by doing so are decreasing their risks of serious health problems.

With a little planning, it doesn’t take any longer to prepare healthy meals as it does to make meals that are high in fat and calories. All you need to do is change some of the ingredients and prepare them in smarter ways that are healthier for you.

A lot of the salt in foods can be replaced with natural seasonings and spices. Foods can be cooked, baked or grilled to avoid excess fats. And, if you do fry your foods use oils that are low in saturated fats. Some experts recommend using virgin olive oil as a substitute for unhealthy cooking oils.

Anytime that you change your eating habits you’ll need to adjust to how the foods taste. But, if you season your foods to add flavour, you’ll find that they can still be just as delicious. And, the rewards of having a healthy life will be well worth making the change.

Artificial sweeteners may provide the answer to drinks and foods that are lower in calories, but many consumers are unaware of the risks that they are posing to your health. Aspartame is one of the most popular sweeteners that are found in a variety of products from diet candies to diet soda. Aspartame has been linked with headaches and developmental disabilities in children and is dangerous to those that consumer high levels of the chemical.

Most of what you need to know about the dangers of artificial sweeteners can be found in the name. Anything that is labeled as artificial is more than likely created with the use of chemicals in a laboratory and cannot be easily digested within the body. When things are not easily digested within the body, how can we expect to gain the nutrients and other components that we require from these items?

Artificial sweeteners contain chemicals including known carcinogens and have been under careful scrutiny by many national health organizations. If you are trying to avoid the potentially harmful side effects that can come from artificial sweeteners, it is best to avoid the product altogether.

Unfortunately, there is a high amount of foods that contain a high amount of artificial sweeteners if they are in low in calories. Unfortunately, these low calorie foods are often the reason that these foods are diet friendly. When the choice comes down to the calories that could be consumed and offset with exercise or putting your body at risk with the use of artificial sweeteners; it is important to realize that you could hit the gym and work the weight off!
